Virtual Private Server — an isolated slice of a physical server with its own dedicated resources.
Physical, one-server-one-box hosting is expensive and inflexible. Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Xen, KVM and
similar) lets multiple guest servers share a host, cutting overhead while building in resilience — a single
host failure no longer takes you down for long, if at all. It also makes scaling far easier: just reach out and
we'll help.
Content Delivery Network. Think of it as an extension of your webserver's storage, most commonly used to serve
static content — images, media, PDFs — reducing bandwidth and CPU/IO load on your origin so it's free to
generate dynamic content. We connect back to your origin only when we don't already hold a copy, then cache it
according to your rules. Because our systems are globally placed, content is also delivered from a location close
to each end user, improving their experience.
Proactive Accelerator, Load-balancer & Security System. You've spent time and money building and optimising
your web application — delivery speed and availability are the last steps, and increasingly decide search
rankings and repeat visits as much as anything else. In short: PALSS is a CDN, a load balancer and a security
application in one, built around a globally distributed advanced caching system covering everything from static
assets to dynamic pages. Points of presence (POPs) spread worldwide keep end users connected to their nearest POP,
on the fastest available route back to your servers.
Load balancing sits at the core of PALSS, built from the ground up so you can expand your webservers without
configuring — or paying for — expensive load balancers yourself. Choose active servers, a backup to
your primary, or any combination that fits. We're platform-independent, so servers on Azure and AWS together are
no problem.
PALSS continually monitors your site, and if it returns anything other than a 200 response it fails over instantly
to a custom landing page — so during planned maintenance or an unplanned outage, visitors see useful
information (contact details, status updates) instead of a raw error page.
DDoS mitigation through traffic-pattern analysis, a Web Application Firewall to guard against SQL injection and
similar attacks, and SSL implementation so your visitors' data is encrypted and their browser doesn't flag your
site as insecure.
Both. Our global clusters are fully IPv4 and IPv6 reachable, so whichever protocol you or your clients use, you'll stay connected.
See our PALSS plans for
current packages. It suits anyone who cares about their site's speed and security — from small single-page
sites right up to industry-leading global platforms.
